Product introduction

Biological filtration media, often referred to simply as biofilter media, are critical materials in biological filtration systems for treating exhaust gases and wastewater. Positioned at the heart of biochemical reactions (within the biofilter bed), they provide a suitable surface for microbial attachment, enabling the biofilter bed to operate at maximum efficiency. Traditionally, biofilter media have been made from natural stones, bark, ceramics, volcanic rock, or synthetic polymers. While these materials benefit from being cost-effective, they generally suffer from drawbacks such as small specific surface area, poor microbial adhesion properties, and lack of promotion for microbial growth. Consequently, they are increasingly unable to meet the enhanced capabilities required by environmental discharge standards that continue to become more stringent.

Biofilter media employing bamboo charcoal or granular activated carbon initially exhibit high adsorption capacities. However, once their adsorption capacity reaches saturation, they offer no significant advantages as biological carriers over other types of media and come with a higher cost. Our company has developed and produced a new type of biofiltration material that is a composite biofilter medium. This innovative medium integrates high-quality adsorbents and bioactive materials along with various growth-promoting factors for microorganisms, overcoming the many shortcomings of traditional filter media. It endows the filter media with functionalities not found in conventional products, significantly broadening their application range and enhancing operational efficiency. The benefits include promoting microbial attachment and growth, a longer lifespan, and a more favorable cost-performance ratio.

WBF-Fe Biological Filtration Media for Wastewater Treatment (Strong Degradation Type)

WWBF-Fe is based on WWBF-C filtration media with the addition of an iron-based catalyst to enhance the microbial assimilation and degradation capabilities for various pollutants. It is suitable for treating different types of industrial wastewater that contain hard-to-degrade biological components.
